This session will be a panel discussion and presentation of the AIA Design for Aging Review Awards 16 winning projects by two jurors and two award winners.
The Design for Aging Review Awards, a juried exhibition, furnishes architects and their teams the opportunity to demonstrate innovative senior living architecture solutions that improve the quality of life within specific project constraints. Four award categories were available; built, unbuilt, affordable, and small project. This cycle purposefully added affordable as a separate category to provide more opportunities for projects not often showcased with awards. And to bring more recognition to innovative work in affordable senior living.
Eight award-winning projects represent the Merit and Special Recognition award recipients for 2021. All eight winning projects will be presented as case studies. Three of the eight award-winning projects will have a deeper dive discussion by the project’s architect, including two case studies of affordable projects and the challenges with affordable project types.
